Trust & trustee matters
Audited accounts were now available for the previous 2 years. The 2022/23 accounts were approved and it was agreed that they should be submitted to the Charity Commissioners as part of the annual report.
Committee reports
a. Museum Creation
Pocklington Town Council (PTC) had submitted all the information required by East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) regarding Burnby Hall. It was now for ERYC to consider the application for the community asset transfer.
Some queries had come back from the Shared Prosperity Fund team and these had been answered. It was hoped that the outcome for the grant application would be known in late February or early March.
b. Collection Management and Research
A metal detectorist has agreed to channel all of his local finds through PDHT. It was emphasised how important it was that these should be registered with the Portable Antiquities Scheme and that recording the precise location was crucial.
c. Finance and Fund-raising
The Treasurer circulated copies of the accounts..
Thanks were given to one of the Trustees and his wife for donating the proceeds of some of their open gardens events to PDHT .
A local company had donated a set of display boards.
d. Education, Events and Public Engagement
Events for the year would include –
School visits
A series of talks.
Pockdown is on 27th July. In previous years a stall at this has generated interest.
The Heritage Festival, on an Anglo-Scandinavian theme was proposed for November. The date would depend on speakers’ availability.
e. Facility and Volunteer Administration, Governance and Audit
The Trust needs to develop a financial policy and procedures.
More volunteers are needed for this committee.
Attention was drawn to Martyn’s Law, (Terrorism (Protection of Premises) bill ) which is expected to become law this year. This may affect larger events.
f. Marketing and Communications
A draft of the fund-raising Chariots booklet was distributed. The size and content were discussed.
