Thank you everyone for your support and generosity. We are over the finishing line having raised the target £4,000.
Having reached the target amount we have updated Arts Council England who are managing matters on behalf of the Dept of Culture, Media and Sport. We now have a long wait until late March for the consultation period to end.
Hopefully, we will be successful with our bid, but other museums or Art Galleries may also bid, but our “bringing home” the artefact will add some gravitas to our bid. I am going to keep the appeal running for a short while as we do need funds to purchase a suitable cabinet in which to house it permanently. We wish have it on display in the place it was found. It will be conserved and cared for by East Riding Museum service until we have the ultimate destination in place. Thank you again!
