Committee reports

 Museum Creation

The charity to manage Burnby Hall , Pocklington Community Trust CIO, had been registered with the Charity Commissioners.

Pocklington Town Council has appointed a York firm of architects to deal with the refurbishment. They would be contacting PDHT to discuss the museum’s requirements.

Shared Prosperity Fund grant

Trustees were continuing to work with the consultants regarding display boxes and accompanying text. The limited budget did not allow for chronological displays. A series of icons had been developed to represent different time periods.

The consultants were to attend Pockdown to do some market research about the plans for a portable museum.

Collection Management and Research

There had been no new acquisitions. Some items from Hayton had been provided on permanent loan.

Accreditation

Work was continuing on the documentation.

c. Finance and Fund-raising

The Treasurer circulated copies of the accounts to date

There was a discussion about HMRC Museums and Galleries tax exemption. It was a complicated exemption. It was agreed to take advice from the Association of Independent Museums regarding this.

The bid for Humber Museums Partnership (HMP) funding had not been successful.

It may be possible to get Do It for East Yorkshire funding for the unsuccessful HMP project.

Two Ridings funding may be available for the running costs and towards the work with residential homes.

d. Education, Events and Public Engagement

The first talk had been given to the William Wilberforce residential home.

The next event would be Pock-down on Saturday 27th July. A budget was agreed for expenses.

As part of the East Riding annual walking festival PDHT is to lead a walk to Givendale and Millington titled In the Footsteps of the Parisi on 22nd September.

Stamford Bridge School has asked for something on the Iron Age from late November onwards.

The Heritage Festival is from 14th to 16th November.

Another residential home talk is planned for September.

Facility and Volunteer Administration, Governance and Audit

A comprehensive list of volunteers needs to be drawn up.

It was agreed the recruitment of volunteers and data protection implications should be agenda items for the next meeting.
