a. Museum Creation
Pocklington Town Council (PTC) has been granted an Operational Licence by ERYC to operate the hall until the lease is finalised. Pocklington Community Trust CIO is currently operating the hall on a voluntary basis on behalf of PTC. The CIO now has its own website and is appealing for volunteers.
Shared Prosperity Fund grant
The structure of the replica shield has now been completed and work has started on the decoration. It is expected to be finished by Christmas.
The portable museum boxes and displays have been agreed and it is expected they will be ready for the next event.
b. Collection Management and Research
It was reported that the refurbishment of Burnby Hall may need to be done in stages. If it was possible for a room to be opened for the museum to begin exhibiting then this would help with the accreditation process.
c. Finance and Fund-raising
The Treasurer circulated the accounts.
Fund-raising
The launch of the major fund-raising was discussed. It was to be based on the shield replica and its making.
The construction of the shield had been filmed at each stage and this would be used in a presentation.
The Tom Stoppard Centre at Pocklington School was available at half term or at Easter 2025 It seated 320.
The alternative was to use the Community Hall which could accommodate 200.
An application to the Two Ridings Foundation had resulted in a grant of £2315. This was to be split between replica artefacts and Trust running costs.
It was explained that Gift Aid could be claimed on small donations such as a collection at an event.
d. Education, Events and Public Engagement
On 26th October a talk is being given at Nunburnholme Church.
Heritage Festival
14th November- Anglo Saxon and Viking conference with pop-up museum. PH circulated a draft programme.
15th November- Beanfeast with Viking style food, music and storytelling.
16th November – Family Activity Day
65 places at the conference had already been booked. None of the speakers wished to claim expenses.
The SPF team, councillors, etc., will be invited to view the exhibition at 10.30am on Fri 15 and/or 3pm on Sat 16.
High Wolds Heritage Group had asked for a talk in November.
School visits – Stamford Bridge School had booked a visit for the end of November.
e. Facility and Volunteer Administration, Governance and Audit
It was reported that the Trust needed to register with the Information Commissioners Office.
