Committee reports
a. Museum Creation
East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) have provided a lease which Pocklington Town Council (PTC) has sent to their
solicitor. When this is finalised PTC will provide a lease for the Pocklington Community Trust who will then be
responsible for providing PDHT with a lease.
Once the lease was in place a one room museum could be set up for 20 days in the school holidays to secure
accreditation. It may be necessary to apply for an enabling grant to allow this to happen.
The possibility of a joint Lottery bid with PTC was discussed. This would cover work to the building in the part the
museum is to occupy such as installing a lift. It was agreed that a joint bid should be explored and that the funding
group should meet with the relevant Town Councillor.
Some replica items had been produced using funding from the Two Ridings Grant.
Shared Prosperity Fund grant
The transportable museum is being used at various events. Completion of this project is ongoing .
b. Collection Management and Research
Wok is continuing on the documents manual.
Cataloguing the collection would be able to take place when items were moved to Burnby Hall.
The crowd funding appeal for the Anglo Saxon jewel had quickly raised enough money. However, the purchase by
PDHT now had to be approved by the Arts Council and the Government. There was concern that PDHT did not have
an accredited museum. ERYC had offered to curate it until the Pocklington museum was accredited. It was a
condition that it should be on show to the public for 100 days per year. ERYC may put it on show at the Treasure
House.
c. Finance and Fund-raising
The financial management policy had not yet been reviewed.
The accounts had been examined by the accountant and signed off.
The business plan is being updated.
The fund-raising group were working on the shield preview evening. Some of the best items from the area, either
promised to the museum or lost from the area were to be identified for the presentation.
d. Education, Events and Public Engagement
The original shield could be available for the March event but insurance needed to be arranged. The chairman had
asked if the replica of the South Cave sword could be borrowed for the event.
Since the last meeting it had been proposed that tickets for the March event should cost £5. This was agreed.
Two radio interviews had been done.
e. Facility and Volunteer Administration, Governance and Audit
The East Riding Minimum Operating Standards (ERMOS) certificate had been returned.
f. Marketing and Communications
The website is being reviewed and a quarterly newsletter prepared.
